What is Alpha?

• Anyone interested in finding out more about the Christian faith. People of all ages are welcome.
• Laughter and learning—we can have fun as we learn about faith and what difference it makes to the way we live life.
• Pasta—or in this case, maybe not, but at least there will be some food to eat.
• Helping one another. In the context of a small group, we can discuss and help each other discover real and revolutionary truth.
• Anything you ask will be taken seriously, so ask away.

Who is Alpha for?

Alpha is for everyone! It is particularly designed for people interested in investigating Christianity, newcomers to the church, new Christians and those who want to brush up on the basics.

What happens at Alpha?

Every Tuesday we’ll meet at The Pheasant at 8 pm. There will be a brief introduction to the subject followed by informal discussion. Finger foods will be supplied together with tea and coffee. Other drinks are available from the bar downstairs.

We’ll try to follow the following subject matter:

11 October     Why did Jesus die?

25 October     (no meeting—half term)

1 November    Why read the Bible?

15 November   Does God guide?

22 November   What about the church?

29 November   How can I resist evil?

Alpha Awayday. 

The course will include one Saturday in mid-November at a venue close to Chippenham. As well as some time spent sharing a meal or two, we will look at the following subjects:

• Who is the Holy Spirit?
  
• What does the Holy Spirit do?
• How can I be filled with the Holy Spirit?
• Does God still heal today?

What will it cost?

There is no charge for the Alpha course. You will need to buy your own drinks. There will be a charge for the awayday—details to be supplied during the course.
